Twiddling my thumbs, watching the grass grow, clipping my toenails, writing this post. Yep, those were all of the things I did not have time to do this weekend! But guess what? Everyone’s asleep, so….
Hey you GUUUUUUUYSSSSS!
Yes, Lisam somehow I will find a way to repay you for that fond memory, ha ha! What has everyone been up to? We had a busy weekend, some friends from Boston came for a visit Friday night, Saturday was crazy, and Saturday night Harry and I took his old boss out to dinner. When I got up Sunday morning, my husband decided he was going to put up the basketball hoop Santa had brought for Christmas. Of course, since men do not know how to read instruction manuals, I somehow got conned into helping. There went my creative Sunday afternoon. I did, however, force myself to do at least one card for Emily’s challenge. And here it is!
Inspired by the FBOS I sent to my gp, and Lisa’s struggle with packing tape transfers, I decided to do a card about my grandmother. She was great , and I think of her often.
Lisam, my apologies if you have already gotten up to do your thing and missed this.. I had to go visit t’s blog, then I had to watch the wedding video, then I had to go to BB and see all of g’s stuff, then I had to leave comments…it’s been an exhausting evening.
I put the list together for the library card swap, I’ll wait until Friday to see if anyone else wants to join in.

rebecca, that card looks really cool! I love how you used the vintage fabric, and the bit of “netting” (or whatever it’s called) reminds me of the hats they used to wear in the 50s. Really cool. Okay, that’s it, I’ve gotta master the packing tape transfers…Have a good day, all you gps!
Hey, a silly question: I know people from Boston are from “Bawston”–is there a typical accent in Philly?? or do they all talk smooth as cream cheese ? heh heh…

HEy, all!
Hi, Marissa–nice to read you; hope to see more of you around once things quiet down around your orbit. CONGRATULATIONS!!! to your daughter and to you, the eventual grandama! wow.
So I’ve been working on my conspiracy theory LO a bit tonight. for a change: it’s been happening for the last week or so that every time I go to put my daughter down for a nap or to bed at night (which means that I subsequently have some time to myself to make stuff!!!), I end up falling ASLEEP myself, given that it takes a while for her to conk and there I am, waiting…cozy under the quilt…nice and warm…peaceful…relaxed…and the next thing you know: zzzzzZZZZZZzzzzZZZZZzzzz!!! and boy does that tick me off when I wake up, she wakes up and I realize that “free time is now officially over”!!! (I shouldnt’ complain, at least I’m gettin a nap…but when the time for yourself is soooo much more important than the SLEEP!!…)
sigh. that must seem like soooo “in a galaxy far far away! to you gals with teenagers…
Have a good rest of your day, everybuddeh!

Hi Marissa. congrats! you’ll be a gramma soon. hmmmm…. i’ve threatened my children that i WILL NOT under any circumstances, be a gramma until I am, oh, i don’t know…DEAD!!
most people think I am about 15 years younger than I actually am, so i think I have a very YOUNG heart and spirit and the thoughts of being a gramma scares the SHIT out of me!! what about you Marissa? are you good with it all?? are you ready??? do you ever get ready??? i am so GLAD i know someone that i can now ask all these very important questions of.
the first BB newsletter with my first class comes out the end of this week, maybe even tomorrow…YIKES!! hope everyone likes it.
hey, i’ll pay you all $1.00 each if you go and say “ooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaa” and “jee g, that’s amazing!!”
just kidding.
hey J, did you have any trouble doing the album kit?? it might be really good to see the step by step in photos.
I have kits for sale if anyone needs to buy them. I have 13×13 and 10×10 and then we do custome size as well. I sell a lot of them, so we keep them in stock.
that’s it. I’m off to create something for the book. I have been going through old photos, and found some that knocked my socks off! Can’t wait to do something with them. did some altering over the weekend. LOVE LOVE LOVE how they turned out!
J, HOUSE is on tonight…

The BD would like to apologize for being way behind on these comments. The BD will try to answer them all forthwith:
t- yes, that g is a blog instigator. I wonder, does she get a commission from the rat bastards every time we open a blog?
jan-will send you some fabric, email me!
lisam- there is definitely a south philly accent, but I am not a philly native, I was an army brat, so we were all over the place during my formative years. Hence, no accent for me. Nap time, you get nap time?? I would love some nap time!
g- on this blog we like:
BB promotion
lots of commotion
videos in motion
so I’d like to know where you got the notion…
that I wouldn’t let you talk about your upcoming kickass newsletter.
jan-did you get your g kit from the g spot? Haha couldn’t resist that one!
marissa- glad to have you checkin in, wow! That’s definitely some news to rock your boat. We are here for you, gal! Don’t be shy about doing the card challenge, I think it will be nice to have a little piece of art from everyone here, no matter what your style. That’s what makes art cool, it’s all unique.
t-if you will go visit your blog, you will see I was just there LEAVING A COMMENT! You will be receiving your altered bellybutton lint sculptural mobile in the mail shortly. I’m sure it will look great hanging in the studio. Did I tell you it can also be used as a fig leaf in case of emergency? I ‘m sure the male models will find it quite handy, ha ha! BTW, cool new avatar!

Thanks girls for the congrats.
First I want to see ok i will try the cards r…not sure what i’m suppose to do,but your right it’s going to be cool for everyone to do something. I would be stupid to pass up this oppurtunity with you girls. so tell me the info that you need from me.
G, what are we ever ready for. It’s hard to beleive i’m going to be in this stage. Many people don’t even think i could have a married daughter. When i tell them my age they usually don’t beleive me. I’m 47 and happy to be here. As i mentioned the other day on the blog. I’m a breast cancer survivor, so i’m thrilled to be at this stage. there are things in life that totally change are perspective. One day if you would like i’ll tell you that story. anyways… the scary part for me as of the moment is i want my daughter to be healthy and ok. i totally feel like i’m lliving in a time warp.
It’s like being freeze dried. i’m laughing. here i am looking at her and i’m just seeing myself going through the first time i was pregnant. it doesn’t make me feel old at all. i don’t think it should scare you. look at it like this ..if you feel your a great mom and i think your a very cool mom and probably a great friend to your children..think of how great you are going to be as a grandma. I feel so honored that my daughter wants to share her marriage with me and her thoughts and questions about life. and now asking me to go to the doctor with her and sharing this experience..it is euphoria for me. I could go on and on about thoughts and feelings, perceptives on things, i love it all. So girlfriends anything you want to ask ..go for it and i’d love to talk about. One thing that is scary, is hoping their lives want be to hard of a financial struggle. By the way g for sure interested in one of you kits. which size would be better to do. i have only ever done 12X12 pics.
Lisa for you nap time is very important.. Your time will work out. i find taking sometime at night is easier than the daytime hours. i use just veg. when the kids would be sleeping. (siesta time). Can’t wait to see what you are going to do for your theory. willing to give any hints.
well manana. buenos noches.
speak to you all tomorrow.

Hey Marissa, beautiful post. i am still waiting to hear your story…whenever you’re ready to share it.
i was being somewhat facicious about being ready for gramma-hood. i wasn’t ready for kids, nor my 40’s, nor full time prosecuting (so much responsibility!) nor staying in one place longer than 5 years, nor lots of other things, BUT they all came and life is still good.
some of us have been through lots of shit in life. I have met lots of people that have been through hell and lived through it. I guess it’s all about how our experiences shape us.
In the time I have known Marissa i have always gotten the feeling her experiences have made her a very beautiful person. Not knowing her age, I have always thought she was in her early to mid 30’s. don’t know why. she has a young spirit i guess that flows through her words.
marissa, loved how you changed the subject mid paragraph from really deep stuff to one of my stupid album kits!
Lisa, maybe you’re pregnant??? have you thought of that??? maybe that’s why you’re sooooooooooo tired and need to nap a lot. hmmmmmmm. interesting…. you know me and conspiracy theories!
i should go to bed now and enter into one of my fitful sleeps. why “fitful” you ask? because I am always creating in my stupid head (SH) and when I’m not, I’m having nightmares (NMs). what an interesting life i lead. I am SURE i would be a GREAT case for any psych student. why oh why do i have to have a brain like this????
Marissa, JOIN IN THE LIBRARY CARD challenge!!! it’s going to be so much fun.
do you think it would be better if i don’t do these challenges? I get e-mails from people telling me how intimidating my stuff is. I hate that. i sure hope people aren’t abstaining from participating because of me. I will withdraw completely if that’s the case. I am ALWAYS, 100% always amazed at what everyone creates!!! i hope i didn’t just sound really super arrogant…yikes! i just want you all to know I think you’re a whole big schwack of super talented girls and getting more and more talented by the minute! it won’t be long until I am but a bad memory, messy scrapbooking, lots of useless journalling…but happy because I have FINALLY gone insane due to lack of the requisite amount of REM sleep.
i live to wait another day for grammahood…
xoxo

BWAHHHHHHHHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHHH!
me?!?!? pregnant!?!?
but ummm, I thought you have to have SEX to get pregnant!??!!?
There are two nightly options:
1) “go to bed the same time as your SH” or
2) “stay up and have time to yourself and read scrapbooking blogs and maybe make some stuff”
…HMMMMMMM!!!
which one do you think I pick on a regular basis??????????????
(and don’t be talking to me about mornings and alternative locations to bed cuz it just ain’t happenin’! heh heh)
BLAME it ALL on SCRAPBOOKING, I SAY!!!!!!
(ohmygod, I can’t believe I’m talking about my sexlife on a blog. that’s sooooo pathetic.)
g, my sister from another mother:
DO THE CHALLENGES.
“QUIT your DAY JOB!”
C’mon,
everybody sing along with me: (air-guitar is optional)
“Cause it’s the PiCCCCKKKKKKKK!!
of DES-TI-NY, CHILD!!!!
more precious-than-a-diamond-on-a-pla-ti-num-chain!!!”
AAAHHOUOUUUUUUU!!!
DO you think VAN GOGH worried about whether his stuff was too intimidating!?!? DO you think PICASSO thought people might find his stuff too BUSY and CHUNKY!?!? DO you think O’KEEFE worried about leaving EMPTY SPACE on her canvas?!?!??!?!
like the King Lemur on Madagascar says, “YOu’re all a bunch of PANsies!!”
heh heh heh
g, you just keep blazing your trail, like the Halley’s comet that you are!
okay, later ‘gaters!
It’s almost 11am and we’re still here in our pjs with our faces covered in toast and jam!! 😉
hey, btw, have any of you guys made a felt softie doll?

BD, not quitting the blog, just not doing challenges…o.k. you hear it enough times “i would do your challenge but I could never do something like you just did” said in really high pitched whiney voices…grates on me some days. like today and yesterday, oh and the day before that and the day before that and the day before that…pretty much EVERY day! I am ONLY intimidating IF you are a criminal and I am prosecuting you. Other than that, i am nothing more than a crazy person with strange ideas I like to put on paper because I am sure it is really good therapy for me and costs so much less than a psychiatrist.
what’s/where’s ELBA???

g, you can never quit this blog, didn’t you know that? we will come and hunt you down and find you and torture you with cheezy rubons and force you to look at YUMMY layouts HAR HAR.
Do (did) that many people really whine at you?!?!? Jeez, that must be so annoying…and demoralizing, yup. I can imagine how fed up you must feel.
Like if people are intimidated by a layout, imagine what they must feel when they walk down the street and a real person comes up and asks them for a breath mint. THey must just crap their pants.
ELBA? beats me? where’d that come up??
Thanks, g, et al. I know I can talk to you about anything.

R, re: what’s a softie doll:
handmade dolls made out of felt, patchwork, bits of cloth, etc.
like these:
or this: http://softiescentral.typepad.com/blog/
(apparently they are a big thing to swap, sell, trade on flickr)
I’m not really a sew-er (if you don’t hyphenate it spells “sewer” ha ha), but they are starting to grow on me and I have a bunch of felt kicking around here somewhere, from my aborted attempts at making felt board activites for my daughter (cuz scrapbooking just got in the way…)

Ok, ok, no more obscure historical references. Napoleon was exiled to Elba, duh. I guess I’ll have to change my avatar since no one got the joke! G, I didn’t think you meant quit the blog. I am with lisam, if you quit ART, I will be flying over there so fast you won’t know what hit you! That is just crazy talk and I will have none of that on my blog. If they don’t like your art, then let them eat sh#*! Then let them ask for a breath mint!
g, I hate to tell you this, but when I came home from Ranger the first time I didn’t sleep for 3 days. I was too busy thinking up all of the crazy stuff I could create. Did I ever tell you they call me the Mad Scientist, bwaa haa haa!

Napoleon was exiled to Elba…and you thought we would KNOW that little tidbit of history!?!? You overestimate us.
So would that be Elba, Alabana, right?!?! Cuz if he were exiled to the island of Elba, TUSCANY that I would really be pissed, cuz I mean just take a look at what Elba, Italy looks like. http://www.elbatuttanatura.com/
I don’t think that looks like a place for exile. That looks like a place to spend a freakin holiday…I tell ya, MEN! War, battles, pshaw! They’re all a bunch of wussies—exile in ELBA…tell me another one! That’s why he always had his hand in his coat pocket–he was making sure nothing happened to his airline ticket to PISA!!!
…and it’s ALL YOUR FAULT, YOU GUYS: I can’t stop singing
…………”Cuz it’s the PICKKKKKK!!!”
(and doing a supreme “virtual headbanger hair flip”) in my head…
I’m toast: I’m going to be a Tenacious D fan for the rest of my bottom-feeding life.
Hey, you guys, let’s all go to Elba on a holiday. We could even do some cropping.
“COME CROP IN EXILE!!!” …sounds good, eh!?!? 😉

well you all i just saw g’s class on the bb newsletter!! ofcourse it’s amazing.
her detail in instruction is wonderful. so all these studpid whinny people have nothing to complain about.
last night i wrote a whole pep talk to g and then my internet was down.
Anyways basically what i said went like this… there are people that have envy because they are wannabe’s. Some of us are meant to be teachers. some of us are meant to be students. Some people are giving and some people are takers.
You miss gloria were meant to be a teacher like it or not. You are also a very giving person..like it or not. You chose to be a wife,mother,lawyer,artist/scrapbooker. These in my book are all giving and wonderful qualaties. Your major involved with your chiildren, major involved with you family life, helping your husband with his business, everything that involves your work and then you found something that you love and enjoy for yourself and your willing to take the time to share it and teach it.
This is your path..enjoy it…it’s very special. There are going to always be negative people..but of what i can see in the short time that i have known you there are many people that you inspire and that should be your focus.
don’t waste your precious time on negative or ignorant people. they just don’t know any better. If you inspire just one person in your life…you have made a difference..I beleive your way past that number.
so that’s my pep talk.
OK I WILL DO THE LIBRARY CARDS..I’LL TRY IT OUT OK PUT ME ON THE LIST.
JAN CHECKED OUT YOUR PAGE..GREAT JOb
lisa..what are friends for never feel stupid about what you feel, because it’s very possible your not alone as a matter of fact i know this to be true.
when i read what you wrote about your options i was laughing so much.
been there myself. what is the gp’s girls for … a listening ear when one need it.
well girls going to my poker game now..that is my thursday night out and i love it. there is about 8-10 of us that play.
